In life, there comes a time when finally get it…….. when suddenly BOOM in the midst of all your fears and insanity you stop dead in your tracks and then that inner voice that has always lived with you from the very inception you began to think,and it shouts aloud to you……ENOUGH!!!!!!!!

Enough of the crying ,enough of the lamentations,enough of the struggle ,and like a child being pacified you quiet down ,amidst the sobs you wipe away hot tears ,probably a shudder or two,then you realize and begin to see life through new eyes.

The awakening creeps in, you can see it now , its all clearer now , the haze has began to fizzle out.You realize its time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change or for happiness,safety and security to come running your way.You realize that you are not prince charming and she is not Cinderella and that in the real world there aren’t always fairy tale endings and that any guarantee of “happily ever after “.

You realize all of a sudden that you are not perfect and of course not everyone will always love ,appreciate or approve of who you or what you are which is OK really because really everyone is entitled to his\ her opinion .You learn the importance of loving and championing yourself and in the process a sense of new found confidence is born of self –approval.

You stop complaining and blaming other people for the things they did to you (or didn’t do for you) and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected. You learn that people don’t always say what they mean or mean what they say and that not everyone will always be there for you and that it’s not always about you. So, you (more…)

The two-year old likes to run.

It warms all our hearts when we see their funny movements as they run. It is also scary because young children have a tendency to fall very easily.

Once I read of a case of a father who went shopping with his two sons when the two-year old started to run.

He fell.

If you are a parent, you completely understand the phrase, “it hurts you more than it does them.” There is something that pains worse than physical torment to see your little one hurt. He skinned his knee and elbow. He cried for a few minutes and finally with the soothing of Daddy, quieted down.

We are like this two-year old.

Nigerians have been raising alarm over the supposed freezing of the stocks and shares in the Nigerian Stock Exchange.The market experienced a phenomenal all gainers and no loosers.

The Nigerian Stock Market in response has declared that the unsual dissapearnce of the ever so bearish market was due to the implementation of a policy that ensure that a stock must trade a minimum of 100,000 units before its price could move up.

The unsual scenario of 31stocks gaining in price and none losing had stirred up speculations that the NSE had frozen the continous downward movement of the market to get around the consistent bearish trend in the market.

In recent times a stock had to have 5,000 units traded before the price could move,it later increased to 15,000.The new 100,000 policy will guide against frivilous pricing of shares and to promote market liquididty.

Now,will be a good time to stake more in the market.The stock market is healthy and all its fundamentals are on the positive side.

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He’s very proud of her and always wanted to show her off to his friends.

However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.
He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant’s confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant’s 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.
One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, “Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I’ll be alone. How lonely I’ll be!” (more…)

Today the challenges of life are what we make out of it. Every human being is unique in his/her own way, one way or the other, you are relevant to a course ,a family, an institution , a system ,a service and every aspect of life that counts for something.

Most often than not, we accept to be dealt a heavy blow by life and submit entirely to the fact that life can be unfair and at the same time very kind. Giving into defeat has suddenly become a norm. I am guilty of this as well.

The truth about life is that it gives you back what you want from it, yes, many say most times that the individual was lucky to have made it in life oh but we often forget that to be lucky even you need to put in some effort.

“Luck is what you have left over after you give 100 percent.”

Making the best out of life starts with a having a positive self image. You are who you, totally different from the next fellow you have severally wished you were. The key to life can be attained when an individual begins to hold a conviction that he/she is special.

I am special and I know you are too, next steps are plain and simple take the very first step.

“If you have a great ambition, take as big a step as possible in the direction of fulfilling it. The step may only be a tiny one, but trust that it may be the largest one possible for now.”…… Captain Mildred H. McAfee

Zimbabwe is home to the Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world, the stone enclosures of Great Zimbabwe – remnants of a past empire – and to herds of elephant and other game roaming vast stretches of wilderness. For years it was a major tobacco producer and a potential bread basket for surrounding countries.

But the forced seizure of almost all white-owned commercial farms, with the stated aim of benefiting landless black Zimbabweans, led to sharp falls in production and precipitated the collapse of the agriculture-based economy. The country has endured rampant inflation and critical food and fuel shortages.

If former South African leader Nelson Mandela represents the best of post-colonial Africa, surely Robert Mugabe, the merciless despot ruling neighboring Zimbabwe, is its worst. The dictator Mugabe, who has run Zimbabwe since taking power from the white minority government in 1980, appears to have lost the recent election. Yet there are widespread fears that Mr. Mugabe is trying to steal this election, as he more or less stole the last one, in 2002.

Mr. Mugabe, now 84, was once the future. Brilliant and well educated, he led the guerrilla fight against racist rule and became the new nation’s leader. Mr. Mugabe inherited a nation rich in resources and an agricultural showcase.

In no time, Mr. Mugabe began practicing thuggish politics against his rivals and changed the laws to solidify one-man rule. He has ruthlessly suppressed challengers, denouncing opposition figures as lackeys of white colonialists. When citizens began to fall on hard times as a result of Mr. Mugabe’s misrule, he blamed white farmers, expropriated the farms and redistributed the land to his cronies.

Throughout history, crime has existed in many different forms and has been committed by not only individuals, but by groups as well. Crime is something that knows no boundaries; it exists in all cultures, is committed by all races, and has existed in all time periods. Crime exists as a part of the economic institution and is a lifestyle for many people. Crime also exists in both organized and un- organized forms. Since the early 1900’s, “organized” crime has existed in the World with emphasis on the United States.

In the ninth century, Sicily was occupied by Arab forces. The native Sicilians were oppressed and took refuge in the surrounding hills. The Sicilians formed a secret society to unite the natives against the Arab and Norman invaders. This secret society was called Mafia after the Arabic word for refuge. The society’s intentions were to create a sense of family based on ancestry and Sicilian heritage. In the 1700’s, pictures of a black hand were distributed to the wealthy. This was an unspoken request for an amount of money in return for protection. If the money wasn’t paid, the recipients could expect violence such as kidnappings, bombings, and murder. By the nineteenth century, this society grew larger and more criminally oriented. In 1876, Mafia Don Rafael Palizzolo, ran for political office in Sicily. He forced the voters to vote for him under gunpoint. After being elected into office, he promoted Mafia Don Crispi as Prime Minister. Together the two put Sicily under government control and funneled government funds to the society known as the Mafia.

Without trying to bore you with so much history ,the picture above means so many things to several people, to some it would mean one of the best actors that ever lived, to some others it would men the mafia/mob, to another set, it could well easily stand for gangsters. The picture tells different things to different people.

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish’d. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law’s delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover’d country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. – Soft you now!

To be or not to ,that is the question comes from William Shakespeare’s hamlet in an ever consuming soliloquy.I am not particularly a poetry scholar but then after having settled down to analyze the contents of these quotes that has invariably been an inspiration for several great speeches and issues of life,i had a slight change in paradigm.
